into the flanks of my night
bringing me a handful of buds:
roses, clovers and lilacs white.
But, o, poetry,
let’s seal it a secret -
all my captive birds birds fly
by your passing I saw
though men shall not be granted flowers
in our unscripted stone-aged law.
